PAPER ART – ‘paste paper’ with special guest Shirley Freriks

Spirit-inspired expression from the Heart and Soul uses an age old technique called Paste Paper, first used in bookbinding as end papers – now reinvented as a technique to stimulate creativity energy and gain insight.

Shirley Freriks from Northern California will guide a process of inner visualization and movement to open channels for expansive states of consciousness and introspection. The art form itself is unique in that it starts with colored wheat or rice paste as the medium brushed on paper. Then the exploration begins with a variety of implements from the side of a credit card to a spatula or an hors d’oeuvres cutter – anything that pushes the paste around or makes marks in it to create meaningful and exciting designs.

There is freedom in the atmosphere of no right or wrong, good or bad. The possibilities are endless to create simple and complex designs in layers of colors that are unique expressions of Light and Energy, uplifting the spirit and giving “voice” to something going on within. Soul centered creative expression becomes easy and exciting for all regardless of experience – no judgement or competition, just appreciation for each person’s unique creation.
