Visit us in Assisi

We are  located in the beautiful Umbrian countryside about 25 minutes outside of Assisi, Italy.  Directions are below.  Come by for a visit – say hello and enjoy the art in our gallery. Come for a weekend workshop and experience the ecstasy of flowing creativity – come for a 5 or 7 intensive and dive deeply – or come for an extended period of time – a personal retreat, sabbatical or artist in residency.  Meals and accommodations are a walk away.

DIRECTIONS:

By Automobile:  We are located on SS444 midway between Assisi and Gualdo Tadino. You can rent cars at the Perugia Airport, or at the Assisi train station (Hertz).

By Plane:  Rome is the closest International airport. The train is literally inside the terminal, however you will need to change trains (Rome Termini Station) to reach Assisi.  You can also fly into Florence [FLR] or Pisa [PSA] airports and take a train to Assisi.  If you are flying in from Europe, the nearest airport is Perugia [PEG].  This is a small airport that has connections to some European cities.

By Train:  You can find train tickets and schedules on trenitalia.com (train schedules are only available two weeks in advance). From the Assisi train station you will either have to take a bus or we can arrange for someone from the Academy to pick you up for @30€.

We recommend:   If you are traveling internationally from outside of Europe we recommend staying overnight in Rome to rest and recover.  We also recommend scheduling a pick up if you are new to Italy.  We can provide information for a very affordable option.

Fun times to visit~

CHRISTMAS   Assisi is one of the most enchanting places to spend Christmas.  St. Francis was the inventor of the creche- and throughout the entire region you will find enchanting living nativity enactments.  In the ancient churches sublime choirs sing in concerts and liturgical festivities.  Ananda offers a long meditation, an endearing Christmas pageant and other special courses and events.  Christmas and other holidays at Ananda

SPELLO FLOWER FESTIVAL    Every year in the small Umbrian town of Spello, a one mile long path of elaborate floral creations line the streets of this historic town. The entire town works over night to create hundreds of beautiful murals and carpets made of flower petals. Later in the day this becomes a processional path for the Sacrament.  2014 it will be held on the 21 and 22 of June. More pictures here

ASSISI MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL    A spectacular evocation of Medieval and Renaissance life. The ancient town square becomes a stage for theatrical events, concerts, dances, processions, archery, spectacular floral decorations, flags, torches and candlelight processionals. This usually takes place the first weekend in May. We can help you make arrangements for your stay – please contact us directly – info@awakeningartsacademy.com
